This spectacular darkfield photomicrograph of the diatomArachnoidiscus ehrenbergiwas captured on an Olympus microscope by Mortimer Abramowitz. The specimen was illuminated with a high numerical aperture darkfield condenser with immersion oil placed between the microscope slide and the objective and condenser front lenses.
