WALTHAM, Mass., (June 14, 2023)—Evident Corporation, together with the University of Montreal’s (UdeM) School of Optometry and the Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche sur le cerveau et l'apprentissage (CIRCA), celebrated the official inauguration of the campus’ Evident Discovery Center on June 1. The ceremony was cohosted by Julie-Andrée Marinier, OD, M.Sc. Interim Director of the School of Optometry and Arlette Kolta, PhD, Director of CIRCA. Evident representatives were also in attendance, including Arnold Huang, President of Americas Sales and Marketing, and Andre Mindlin, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing for Canada, along with more than 75 honored guests. Two guest speakers from Université Laval’s CERVO Brain Research Center kicked off the event, providing insights into ongoing developments in neuroscience research. The conferences were followed by a tour of the Evident Discovery Center’s installations, led by director Matthieu Vanni. During the tour, demonstrations were given of its advanced equipment, including a FLUOVIEW™ FV3000 upright confocal laser scanning microscope, PhaseView® Alpha3 light sheet microscope and SLIDEVIEW™ VS200 slide scanner. Showcasing the center’s advanced imaging capacity, a microphotography contest was organized for the occasion. Judges chose the top three images out of 40 submissions, and cash prizes were presented to the winners by Christian Casanova, Professor Emeritus at UdeM and Vice-President for Research and Partnerships at the École de technologie supérieure. Advancing Neuroscience Research at CIRCACIRCA’s over 60 researchers from seven faculties work to accelerate interdisciplinary brain science research and its applications through disciplines that operate in practical settings. Leveraging the Evident Discovery Center’s high-performance microscopy systems, CIRCA’s scientists can advance their research into the neural basis of brain development, functions, neuroplasticity, learning processes and the factors that disrupt and promote learning. Creating a Synergy between Academia and IndustryProfessor Yves Joanette, Deputy Vice-Principal of Research at UdeM, underlines the center’s significance, “The partnership between Evident and our School of Optometry as well as our CIRCA Research Center will contribute to enhance the quality and impact of research as well as the training of students by facilitating access to advanced equipment and savoir-faire.
